It seems that Microsoft still does not learn in certain areas and duplication is still its unfinished business. Nevertheless, this story is different and even surprising. Just a few months after integrating the Forms service into Teams it will now be offered a survey app to offer the same. Although, in this case it has an explanation.
Surveys in Teams will have their own application
Microsoft has announced that they will soon launch a new application Polls for Microsoft Teams. However, the application is not new, but simply a modification of the Forms feature that had arrived as an application for Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft has indicated that based on feedback and telemetry they have seen that people did not know Forms. In other words, an application was available to carry out surveys and questionnaires and users were unaware of its existence or its usefulness.
That is why Microsoft, in order to offer the best experience now offers a new survey application within Microsoft Teams. Of course, the Forms data will not be lost, for those who used it. The same functionality will be available and it will not be necessary to migrate the data. Simply, Microsoft wants users to clarify and use the service.
The “new” app will begin rolling out in October to Teams meetings. It will later hit chats in mid-October and the rollout is expected to end in November. It is surprising how many times we have a multitude of tools but, not presenting them well to people means that they are not used.
