Since the war between Ukraine and Russia the video game industry exploded has not looked the other way. Microsoft has already announced that its commercial activity has been suspended, including Xbox, while numerous studios have shown their support for the Ukrainian people.
Now, a company as powerful as take-two has decided to take a firm step and resounding. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the company has decided cease the sale of all its video games in both Russia and Belarus. Alan Lewis, vice president of communications and public relations, has explained the reason for this movement:
“We have watched with concern and sadness the development of recent events in Ukraine. After much consideration, we decided last week to stop new sales, installations and marketing support for all our brands in Russia and Belarus at this time.”
The installation section is precisely one of the most complex, since Take-Two will prevent any user from even installing any of his works. This includes, of course, a flagship such as GTA V and this is no small feat.
They detail from the media that the adventure of Los Santos is the third most popular game in all of Russia, being only surpassed by online games such as CS: GO and Dota 2. Obviously, most of the traffic of players from GTA V in Russia it comes from GTA Online, its multiplayer section.
Among other recent measures we find the fantastic bundle that offers us a multitude of games for a ridiculous amount. All funds generated will go to Ukrainewhile the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA V have revealed their price.
