The YouTuber known as Deep Pocket Monster showcased Walmart on his channel for allegedly selling pirated Pokémon products.
Supposedly, the store chain allows the sale of Pokémon cards (TCG) through third-party accounts.
The product indicated as false by the youtuber and his followers in discord is still on the chain’s sales portal in the US.
Walmart has been accused in the US of sell pirated Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products by a youtuber Deep Pocket Monster notes that it has introduced Walmart the evidence to try to remove the product, however, the retailer has not yet filed a position.
Youtuber denounces the sale of “pirated” Pokémon products at Walmart
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Deep Pocket Monster made a complaint to the Walmart store chain in the United States, because supposedly, within the products it sells is a box of the Pokémon TGC game, however, inside it contains “pirate” cards. The box has been identified as the ‘XY Evolutions Booster‘. Said item has been offered for sale by one of Walmart’s sponsored merchants, a third-party account approved to sell products through its online store.
It was in one of his direct on the Discord platform when the youtuber noticed the story of the collector JediMasterSquirtle, who told him about the scam. For this reason, in a 12-minute video, the youtuber exposed the scam on camera, where the first thing that jumps out at you is a letter from the famous pocket monster, Charizard; however, Caterpie’s name can be seen in the name of the card.
After having exposed the situation, the influencer can be seen complaining to the customer service, in which he is offered a $10 discount code as compensation for your bad experience. However, it can be seen how the person in charge of the company leaves the conversation before giving him the discount.
After more attempts to find an answer, his investigation led him to discover that the XY Evolutions Booster Box is sold through a third party account by the name of JoyBuy, linked to a Chinese online retailer by the name of JD, which partnered with Walmart in 2017. According to information gathered, Walmart owns 12 percent of JD’s stock, which means JoyBuy isn’t just a random account scamming Pokemon fans online, but a Walmart-authorized retailer for carry out such fraud.

The youtuber later told in the video that he was in charge of sending Walmart the necessary evidence to try to remove the product from its catalog, however, the retailer has not yet responded. Apparently, Deep Pocket Monster did receive a refund for the fraudulent purchase, but the process was very challenging and required him to talk to multiple employees before it was finally approved. In his video, he states that attempts to Walmart to compete with Amazon have exposed the Pokémon TCG community to being deceived. For now, the counterfeit box is still in the virtual catalog of the store in the United States.
