TOKYO, Jul 31 (Reuters) – Daniel Stahl added Olympic men’s discus gold to his title of world champion on Saturday, while compatriot Simon Pettersson completed the double for Sweden at the Tokyo Games.
Stahl threw the puck 68.90 meters on his second attempt to take the lead and, although he couldn’t improve on that mark, it was enough to get him the victory.
Pettersson won silver with a 67.39 pitch and Lukas Weishaidinger of Austria took bronze with 67.07.
“We are the Swedish Vikings!” Stahl yelled as he posed for the cameras with his compatriot before the pair celebrated by carrying Swedish flags. (Report by Sudipto Ganguly; Edited in Spanish by Javier Leira)
