Todd Howard, longtime director of Starfield and executive producer of Bethesda, has confirmed that Starfield will have expansions which you will receive in the form of DLC after its release. The first trailer for Starfield was recently shown at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase during Summer Game Fest 2022, giving fans a full look at what they can expect from the space RPG, and it has certainly delivered a lot of promise.
Bethesda games are no strangers to post-launch content, so it’s not surprising to know that Starfield will have expansions. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has earned a reputation for its numerous reissues over the last decade since it came out in 2012, and many of the new versions offer additional game modes, such as the Anniversary Edition Survival mode.

In addition to new game modes, Bethesda has also supported Skyrim with a number of expansions and add-ons, including Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. With each new DLC came new mechanics and game modes., reintroducing content from previous TES games, or even adding mechanics like house building to Skyrim. Now that we know that Starfield will have expansions, we’re left to wonder what else will be in the works for the game.

In statements, Todd Howard confirmed that Starfield will have expansions after its launch in 2023. While Howard didn’t go into detail about what the bonus content will look like, he did talk about how players’ experience in previous games shaped Bethesda’s approach to this new RPG with a specific nod to the modding community.
