Square, the digital payment platform led by Jack Dorsey, has just announced its compatibility with Apple’s Tap to Pay. Through your official WebSquare has confirmed that shortly iPhone users will be able to access the Early Access Program (Early Access Program in English). With this new integration, you’ll be able to use Apple’s Tap to Pay to pay in the app Square Point of Sale & Payment.
Those users who have a small business, a small company or are independent sellers; they will be able to take advantage of the benefits of Square and Apple Pay to make payments much faster, and from point to point. If you’re a seller, you’ll just need an iPhone updated to the latest version, and the Square app installed on your device.
With Tap to Pay on iPhone, I can process contactless payments quickly, even with cellular service; and it offers a really easy experience for new staff to get up and running to accept payments on an iPhone.”
Teddy Rojas, owner of Kona Ice Vacaville, one of the first participants in Square’s Early Access Program.
Of course, this feature is still under development. According to the official announcement, early access to it will be available starting this summer. However, it will not be until later in 2022 that we will see its official launch for all businesses that use Square.
The company says that with this feature, they hope sellers using their platform can “gain more flexibility.” Thus, they can unlock new trading experiences and make sure they never lose a sale.
Furthermore, it is known that not everyone will be able to access early access to the feature. To register, you have to enter the official website enabled by the company. However, it is not certain that you will be accepted, as Square comments that “space is limited”.
More about Apple Tap to Pay
Earlier this year, those from Cupertino announced the launch of Tap to Pay, a new proposal for the Apple Pay system. With this feature, users can now make iPhone to iPhone payments; eliminating the need for an Apple Pay compatible point of sale.
First, Tap to Pay will debut in the United States, being compatible in the first instance with Shopify and Stripe. Now, Square has also jumped on the boat. By having an SDK, merchants will be able to integrate the Tap to Pay function in their applications, without the need to use additional hardware.
For now, we know that to use Tap to Pay you will need an iPhone XS or higher model. In addition, also an application that already has the feature implemented. These are the requirements for sellers, while buyers will only need to bring their mobile compatible with Apple Pay closer to the iPhone in the store, and complete the payment process.
