During October, Amazon offers a few games like Star Wars: Squadrons and other larger titles along with the usual assortment of smaller and lesser-known titles.
Some of those free titles that can be found for free include the 2020 space combat simulator, Star Wars: Squadrons, a fantastic shooter game of 2020 called Ghostrunner, and the oldest but equally good Alien: Isolation, game that really captures the essence of the first Alien movie from 1979. But that’s not even the complete list. According to Kotaku, Amazon Prime Gaming offers at least seven other lesser-known titles with exceptional reviews and ratings, including Secret Files 3 and Red Wings: Aces of the Sky.
Although Prime Gaming is not really a superior gaming subscription service that deserves the attention of a larger gaming community, being able to get the aforementioned titles does not necessarily require an active subscription. Instead, Amazon Prime Gaming offers a 30-day free Prime trial, allowing players to take advantage of this free offer and save up to approximately € 220 on free games (valued on Steam). Of course, once the trial is over, users can subscribe to the service for € 3.99 per month or cancel the subscription entirely.
Taking advantage of this free offer requires downloading the Amazon Games app, which allows you to play the games on Microsoft Windows, Android smartphones and TVs, Google Chromecast, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and S / X Series, although Microsoft is currently leading the way. Game subscription services race completely, especially when it comes to games on demand. The company is currently negotiating the implementation of its cloud gaming services on televisions with Internet access, allowing gamers to play Xbox games without owning the actual hardware.
By contrast, PlayStation Plus offers significantly fewer free titles, including Mortal Kombat X 2015, a multiplayer game inspired by WWII 2019, Hell Let Loose and 2020’s PGA Tour 2K21, a golf game for PlayStation 4. A lower PlayStation Plus offering this month, though Deltarune Chapter 1 & 2 also released free on the PS Store, as a separate offering. All of the titles mentioned above are not supported natively, but can be enjoyed on PlayStation 5 due to backward compatibility with the console.
Regardless, it seems that Amazon Prime Gaming has taken it seriously this month, considering other companies offer free game titles as well. Epic Games, for example, offers one or two free games each week, including more prominent titles, such as the aforementioned Alien: Isolation or Just Cause 4 and Saints Row The Third Remastered.
Will Prime Gaming’s November and December months be this good, offering featured game titles for free in exchange for a monthly subscription?
