Having music on your cell phone has become much easier with applications like Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube and others. However, now everything indicates that song lovers are going to have to adjust their pockets.
In this context, the CEO of Spotify, Daniel Ek, told The Wall Street Journal that platform subscribers can expect price increases in the service by 2023.
Ek also clarified that his company has applied price increases in various parts of the world without losing customers, so he doesn’t think that will happen this time.
This company is not the only one music streaming that it will increase its prices and that fact makes it very unlikely that it will lose any of its 195 million paying subscribers.
Spotify reported 456 million monthly active users in its third quarter, this is 20% more than the previous year.
What other apps will go up in price?
Both Apple and YouTube made adjustments to their services.
The apple company announced price increases in its Apple One membership that includes subscription to Apple Music, Apple Arcade, Apple TV +, and other services.
In Mexico, prices went from 165 to 199 pesos per month in the Individual Plan, from 229 to 275 pesos in the Family Plan and from 395 to 449 pesos in the Premium Plan.
For its part, the Google application made an adjustment to the family plan. Users of this YouTube Premium subscription received an email mentioning the price increase of five dollars per month.
Although Mexico was not mentioned this time, clients from the country received an increase in March this year that was 60 pesos.
