the supermarket chain soriana presented, in general, the lowest prices of the basic basket in four regions of Mexico, according to the Federal Consumer Protection Office (Profeco).
Although, a Merco store in Monterrey, Nuevo León, was the one that offered the lowest price of the group of the 24 most consumed basic products among Mexican families, and it was $901.87 pesos.
According to the weekly report Who’s Who in the Prices of Basic Necessitiesthe North Region registered, at the same time, the most expensive price, since the HEB supermarket in Saltillo sold the package for $1,120 pesos.
At a press conference, Ricardo Sheffield Padilla, head of Profeco, commented that in the country there is a continuous drop in the price of the 24 products, both in the maximum price of the basic basket and in its minimum price.
The prosecutor indicated that the official economic projections show that it has been possible to stop, in general, the inflationary process generated by an escalation of prices that has lasted several months throughout the world.

Center Region
(Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro and Tlaxcala).
- Lowest prices: Mercado Soriana López Portillo, Tultitlán, State of Mexico ($918.90); Soriana Ocotlan, city of Tlaxcala ($918.90); Mega Soriana Chimal, Tlalpan, Mexico City ($923.00); Soriana Híper Loma Bella, city of Puebla ($954.70); and Central de Abasto de Iztapalapa, Mexico City ($1,007.50).
- With an expensive price: HEB Jardines del Moral, city of León ($1,068.50); La Comer Vista Hermosa Expansion, Naucalpan, State of Mexico ($1,027.05); La Comer Quevedo, Coyoacán, Mexico City ($1,023.65); Chedraui Centro Sur, city of Querétaro ($1,014.50); and Walmart El Employee, Cuernavaca ($1,008.90).
