Trends come and go and, just as you have to be up to date on the trends that are taking, you also have to take into account those that will cease to be, in the near future. Although trends in decoration are not as fast and ephemeral as in fashion, there are some that due to use and abuse, and others because they have been established for a long time are close to extinction.
Therefore, whether you consider a small intervention to change the decoration of your house or the entire decoration of your house, keep in mind the trends that will stop being so soon and better bet for those that will be, although right now, let us tell you that the granite on the countertop returns to give you a little vertigo.
These are the seven trends not to bet on in 2022
Led lights Everwhere (everywhere)
The lighting issue is tricky. But even if you like indirect lighting and know that LED strips can be placed almost anywhere, you don’t have to take it literally.
It’s fine to partially illuminate ceilings with indirect lights, but don’t steal the spotlight by also lighting ceilings, shelves, floors… Too much can steal attention from one side to the other and spoil the effect.
The palm tree plant wallpaper (by use and abuse)
Although we recognize that it is very beautiful and that it is a success when applied well, the palm tree print has been used so much; -so much so- that now it’s time to bet on other prints and colors. So if you are thinking of putting up wallpaper, opt better for mural paper, (which tells you a story) or better with textures. The excesses of palm trees are very 2017.

gold and brass
We already experienced an excess of decorative glitter back in 2018 and the art deco trend, but now it touches on the trend of natural and sustainable materials and that of the Zen environment. Something that is incompatible with the most golden glitter.
The 100% Nordic look or the Airbnb look
The low cost Nordic look of 2010 (not to be confused with the real Nordic) has been copied ad nauseam and is the protagonist of many Airbnb rooms. The combo, a straight gray sofa + a white rug with black diamonds, + a fur blanket + a white Ikea TV cabinet, although it works (and as this apartment in San Sebastián shows), it is better now to add pieces with personality and new textures.
The houses with everything brand new
The pristine houses with brand new everything (as catalog) run the risk of seeming cold and timeless. In your house there should always be some piece with history, or heritage (If you haven’t inherited anything, take a tour of your grandparents’ house so they “leave” something for you) and if not, you can buy it at El Rastro or Wallapop. In addition to giving it personality and differentiating it from others, “reusing” is something sustainable.

doors with horizontal lines
If you have a reform, I tell you that the doors with vertical lines will soon be from the past, and a sign that will reveal the age of your house. Better smooth, natural wood or with more timeless straight friezes.
The prints on the walls of cute messages
If you hang something on the walls that is art or that has meaning for you; family photos (except those of communion and large wedding), places that you like… that’s motivation and not four phrases like Mr Wondeful that, if anything, are only suitable for tween rooms. Not to preside over your room.
