Most players disapprove of cheating in any type of game, even casual play. However, things get especially tense in the community when someone who levels up in ranked matches is found to be using cheats or hacks of some kind.
Unfortunately, that is what the community is experiencing. Call of Duty: Vanguard right now. While he was broadcasting, the player who was ranked second on the leaderboard accidentally exposed that he was using the well-known cheat or hack known as “wall hacking”.
the streamer of Call of Duty: Vanguard, pplehx, found himself in trouble while broadcasting on April 11. After being killed, pplehx’s stream had some “flickering” issues momentarily. After the frame rate seems to pick up, other players’ positions can be seen through walls. Pplehx mentioned at the time that his game was slowing down, but eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice the hack.
Instead of denying the accusations, pplehx has apologized for his actions and tried to explain them. In replies to comments and in a separate tweet, pplehx claims that he did indeed use cheats to Call of Duty: Vanguardand even admitted where he had gotten them and showed proof that he had paid for them.
Supposedly, pplehx bought the hack in order to unlock a diamond camo in the game. Pplehx claims that, prior to that, he had not used any cheats or hacks, and that he had risen to second place on his own.
Some of his responding followers supported him, but many others were suspicious of the claims, arguing that someone who could reach that rank naturally wouldn’t need cheating to unlock a camouflage.
At the moment, no official action has been taken against pplehx. Although some have called for a suspension, this shows the continuing problem of cheating in general in Call of Duty. If it were a case of hackthe players could be more forgiving of the situation.
However, despite the Ricochet Anti-Cheat system, many players report encountering cheaters on a regular basis and are understandably frustrated by it.
