A couple of weeks ago the movie was released Chip’n Dale: Rescue Rangers on the Disney+ platform, presenting a story that mixes animation and live-action in a world where cartoons coexist with each other. One of the surprise cameos in the film was that of Ugly Sonicbut originally his role was going to be played by Jar Jar Binksfrom Star Wars.
The Ugly Sonic we see in the Chip ‘n Dale movie is a parody of Sonic’s original design for the Paramount Pictures movie, which was replaced by the one we see today after the terrible public reception of the original. Although Ugly Sonic was replaced from his own film, the character replaced Jar Jar Binks in the Chip ‘n Dale film.

According to simon wilkins, the artist in charge of the sketches or storyboards of the film, Jar Jar Binks of Star Wars was the character planned for the role of Ugly Sonic, although this idea did not go beyond the sketches. This was known thanks to a publication that he made on his Instagram account, where we see the sketches of the scene in which we meet Ugly Sonic for the first time.
Through his Instagram account, Simeon Wilkins has been sharing some sketches of the scenes he drew during the pre-production of Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Mission, where we have been able to see how some scenes began. However, the most interesting so far is the Jar Jar Binks one, as it also features a Chris Evans cameo that didn’t make it into the movie.
When Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers premiered on Disney+, director Akiva Schaffer said he was very grateful to the lawyers who made Ugly Sonic’s cameo possible, as it’s one of the movie’s highlights for him.
