Three years ago, Samsung showed its first portable assistance robot, the GEMS Hip. The company had plans to launch it before the end of this year, but this has been delayed, as has the final name of the device.
Samsung’s first wearable assistance robot will be called Bot Fit
Even so and according to Sammobileit has been confirmed that Samsung It will launch the Bot Fit assistance robot early next year and has reportedly requested registration of the term “Bot Fit.” This is the same wearable assistive robot that was previously introduced as GEMS Hip.
It is estimated that Bot Fit could arrive at CES 2024 in early January next year. Samsung appears to have finished testing it and sent it to partners for demonstrations.
It is a walking assistance medical robot designed for the elderly or people with limited mobility. It has two modes: Aqua and Booster.
- Booster mode is for those with back or leg injuries and helps them walk better.
- Aqua mode is a recreational mode that offers effects similar to walking on water. It can also be used for rehabilitation of people who have suffered injuries.
Bot Fit can be paired with Samsung’s smart ecosystem
The Bot Fit can reportedly be paired with Samsung smartphones, smartwatches, and headphones. Additionally, it can be controlled via the paired phone or smartwatch and can record fitness and training information.
When combined with wireless headphones, it can offer walking guidance and achieve efficient movement. Apparently, the South Korean company has even sold some Bot Fit to some of its employees who were interested in using it.
AI and robotics are the fields that Samsung Electronics president Lee Jae-yong has chosen as the company’s future growth drivers. The South Korean firm plans to invest 240 trillion won (179 billion dollars) in these fields by 2024.
