android 13 It is already available and, as usual, many of the manufacturers are taking advantage of this new version to release updates to their respective customization layers. Samsung, of course, is one of them. The company has announced officially One UI 5, its new interface that comes with improvements in several sections of the system, such as the lock screen, as well as important features related to privacy and security.
One of the most notable changes in One UI 5 is, without a doubt, the new lock screen. This comes with more customization options, allowing you to modify the style of the clock, add new backgrounds or even modify the colors of some elements that are shown in this section. Curiously, they are changes very similar to those that Apple includes in iOS 16. In fact, even the customization panel mimics – in a way – the one available in the new update for the iPhone.
Another of the One UI 5 changes are the new modes and routines. Samsung, in particular, now allows you to create “action sequences” so that the user can activate or adjust some system functions depending on the activity they do. For example, you can create a sport mode and silence all those notifications related to work apps, or activate a night routine so that the device automatically sets the alarm, silences the alerts and activates the dark mode.
One UI 5 arrives with new security and privacy features
Samsung has also added some interesting features related to privacy and security. With One UI 5, the system will be able to notify us when an image we are about to share contains personal information. For example, an address, phone number, etc. A new privacy and security center has also been added so that the user can adjust some parameters in a more intuitive way.
One UI 5 also includes small but interesting new features. They are the following.
- are added stacked widgets to take advantage of the space on the home screen.
- Notifications have been redesigned to display more information and new buttons to perform actions.
- OneUI includes Bixby Text Call1, to answer calls by text. Bixby, in this case, is capable of transcribing the text to audio and dictating it to the recipient of the call.
When will Android 13 arrive on Samsung mobiles?
At the moment, One UI 5 with Android 13 is available in beta for some selected mobiles. Among them, the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 + and Galaxy S22 Ultra. The update is expected to roll out to more models in the coming weeks, while official updates could be available in early 2023.
