The documentary series on Formula 1 continues to be a success among the less informed fans of the category, although it is receiving more and more criticism from drivers and more regular fans who detect manipulations in the stories.
What Drive to Survive, Netflix’s documentary series on Formula 1, has been very positive in attracting new audiences and fans of the category is undeniable. However, many do not like that this positive phenomenon is happening at the cost of manipulating the narrative and even the facts of what has really happened in many cases.
One of the most striking examples was the invented rivalry between Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris in the third season. And it is that, in fact, both are possibly the best friends of the grill.
“I still believe that it is a good thing for me and for the Formula 1 brand, so I will continue to appear”
This is confirmed by the rider from Madrid, who points out that “In the case of Lando and I, I think they went a bit too far.. Even all the fans who know Formula 1, which are many, realized that Netflix probably went a step too far with Lando and me.
Despite this, Carlos Sainz considers that the series is positive for Formula 1, as it brings the competition closer to a new audience. “But I do think Netflix knows that and they are able to correct their errors in judgment.. I think they will adapt and maybe make it a little more realistic.”
“Even with that mistake, I still believe that Netflix is good for sports. I still believe that it is a good thing for me and for the Formula 1 brand.so I will continue to appear if they want me to be, “says the Ferrari driver.

Carlos Sainz’s former teammate at McLaren, Lando Norris, has also expressed concern about how netflix manipulates the factsputting an emphasis on how he counted the start of the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix.
“When you’re the person the story is about, you’re not so cool with it because It can make you seem like you said something at a time and place that is definitely not right.”Norris introduces.
Official trailer for the fourth season of Drive to Survive.
“Daniel and I came out going side by side at Turn 1 (Bahrain) when we weren’t even close and I affirm that he pushes me, that he is from a completely different career»emphasizes the British.
“There are things that can be excessive and I don’t agree with that too much, but in general, I think it’s exciting and good for everyone. As long as they don’t go overboard and literally make someone look like they’ve done something they definitely haven’t… I think that is going too far. As long as they don’t do that, it’s fine.”he concludes.
The current world champion, Max Verstappen, has refused to participate in this fourth season and will not do so in the following ones, since he does not approve of the manipulation of the stories made by the producer of Drive to Survive.
