It seemed that this year the Cannes Film Festival was going to be somewhat lacking in Spanish representation but it has been confirmed that finally ‘Ace Bestas‘ from Rodrigo Sorogoyen It will premiere worldwide within the Official Selection.

‘Ace Bestas‘ is the new film by Rodrigo Sorogoyen starring Marina Fois (‘The writing workshop’), Denis Menochet (‘The Mauritanian’), Luis Zehera (‘The kingdom’), Diego Nest (‘Trot’) and Marie Colomb (‘Laetitia or the end of men’). The film has been recorded in various areas of El Bierzo and Galicia and is shot in Spanish, Galician and French.
The plot of the thriller revolves around Antoine and Olga, a French couple who have settled in a small village in the interior of Galicia to be closer to nature. Their life is not as idyllic as they would like and the tension with the locals is increasing more and more.

The new work by the director of ‘Antidisturbios’ and ‘Madre’ is a co-production between Spain and France, which will be distributed in our country by Against the Current Films. With the inclusion of ‘As Bestas’ in the Cannes Première section of the festival’s Official Selection, Sorogoyen’s new film ends up expanding Spanish representation at Cannes.
In addition to the premiere of ‘As Bestas’, ‘Bora Bora’ competes for the Palme d’Or Albert Serra and ‘El agua’, the first feature film by Elena Lopez-Sierra. As for short films, ‘Nisam Je Stigao Vojeti’ by Anna Fernández de Paco and ‘Cuerdas’ by Estíbaliz Urresola Solaguren have been selected for the 61st Critics’ Week.
