There have been few who have worn the Captain America uniform but the one that comes to everyone’s mind is that sickly little boy who did not measure up to enlist. Panini comics The publication of the new miniseries begins that will introduce us to a good handful of new Captains America.
The man behind the shield
Steve Rogers didn’t know what it would take for him to become the only United States super-soldier who fought to the public in WWII. He only wanted to be able to contribute to his country his grain of sand, to fight face to face against Nazi Germany within one of the armies that recovered Europe from the clutches of Adolf Hitler. What did not occur to him is that he was going to become the most celebrated figure and an example for an entire nation. It was going to embody the wishes and desires of many Americans, it would be the ideal representation of their dream, the one that includes a house surrounded by a white painted fence.
Everything in the representation of Cap is significant and reaches the category of iconic. From the uniform of the stars and stripes to the large A that stands out on its forehead printed on the mask, not to mention its greatest symbol, a shield that was not always circular in shape but which has ended up becoming its most characteristic image and representative. That is why it is important that a figure in the shadow, hidden by an unusual speed, seizes the shield that means so much and provokes the union of several Captains in their eagerness to recover it.
The structure of the series
Each installment of The United States of Captain America is made up of two different parts. In the, let’s call him, main we will have the plot that will put us after the recovery of the shield, by Christopher Cantwell (who has been going strong with his Doctor Death and Iron Man for a few months) and Dale Eaglesham (well remembered for his time in The Four Fantastic that Jonathan Hickman wrote), while in high school we will get to know different incarnations until now unknown of Captain America. We are not facing front-line heroes, the kind who make the front pages and news on the inside pages of prestigious newspapers and magazines. Rather, we are dealing with ordinary people who carry out a more social work, who defend the most needy without making so much noise.
The protagonist of this first installment is a young boy named Aaron Fisher, better known as Captain America of the tracks. Fisher has taken on the responsibility of protecting those who use the United States’ rail system to flee, for whatever reason, with a special focus on those who share the same sexual condition and escape from homes where they are not accepted. by their own families. Because Aaron is gay and does not hide because of it, on the contrary, he takes pride and gives it normality, as it should be in any properly developed society.
A queer community
“Queer” is a word that describes a gender and sexual identity other than heterosexual and cisgender. … Queer is sometimes used to express that sexuality and gender can be complicated. Change over time and not fully fit into one identity or another, for example: being a man or a woman, or being gay or straight. This Captain America of the roads gives visibility to this group integrated within the LGTBQ + Community and does so with a script by Josh Trujillo and a drawing by Jan (formerly Óscar) Bazaldúa, members of it.
Therefore, we are faced with an interesting double proposal. An adventure with a mysterious robbery as a catalyst in the purest Marvel style accompanied by stories that will discover new characters who in their own way are also symbols within a smaller sphere of influence. The one that is confined to a city, to a transportation system, to a less grandiose life but that deserves to be lived with all the help that can be counted on. The road is hard, better with a helping hand by our side.
