The North American firm has presented its second 00% electric model. The new Cadillac Celestiq is already a reality, a saloon with a very futuristic design more on the outside than on the inside, a true design icon for the North American giant that will hit the market in mid-2024.
Although the development of New Cadillac Celestiq will be extended for almost another year and we will see spy photos of the new camouflaged luxury sedan, the brand has decided to reveal what is its second 100% electric model. An imposing luxury saloon with a design almost as avant-garde as the concept car that was presented a few months ago, at the beginning of the summer.
A true flagship of which Cadillac that the brand aims to set a new benchmark in both design and technology. More than five meters with an avant-garde design through all the pores of the Celestiq, highlighting a front in which the optical groups are presented with a fine light bar that extends horizontally from end to end, and with the main lighting functions housed in vertical fangs, flanking the large closed panel that covers the entire grille.
The Cadillac Celestiq targets Mercedes and Rolls-Royce
Its silhouette presents a very elegant Shooting Brake shape, highlighting some imposing 23-inch forged alloy wheels. The Celestiq is full of interesting details: it lacks door handles, even electrically retractable, to offer an absolutely clean design, so the doors have electric opening and closing. The panoramic glass roof has four different zonesregulating the passage of light independently.
The Celestiq presents an innovative rear with divided pilots, occupying the rear uprights and the lower part of the bumper, with more than 1600 diodes. And if it is surprising on the outside, it is no less on the inside. The dashboard has been completely digitized, with a large screen that reaches 55 inches, in addition to having an extra touch screen in the transmission tunnel with 11 inches. Even the rear passengers have their own, two 12.6-inch front seatbacks and one 8-inch in the transmission tunnel.
The Cadillac Celestiq will be a high-power autonomous in 2024
Loaded with technology, rear seats are individual to offer the maximum possible comfort, each one with an air conditioning system that has heating, cooling and ventilation, as well as an Airscarf-type function for the neck. Sophisticated driver assistants are complemented by autonomous driving “Ultra Cruise”which will arrive throughout 2024 through OTA wireless updates and, among others, with active address of the rear wheels with a maximum turn of 3.5ºair suspension or electric power steering.
The Celestiq is based on GM’s electric car architecture, the “Ultium” platform. A mechanical base equipped with on-demand all-wheel drive that can turn the electric motors on or off –two with a maximum power of 600 CV– and thus save energy. The battery has a capacity of 111 kWh, and a maximum autonomy of 483 kilometersrecharging energy for 125 kilometers thanks to a power of 200 kW in just 10 minutes.
The Cadillac Celestiq will go into production in December 2023, putting for sale mid 2024. A model aimed at the three largest markets in the world and specialists in ultra-luxury brands, starting with the United States and China and also reaching the Middle East. The firm is also thinking of doing it in Europe, although the $300,000 that seem like a starting price will make it difficult to come across a unit.
