Neuro-linguistic programming, or NLP, is a set of techniques used to shape thoughts based on personal goals. Thus, as through this method, it is intended to stimulate neural connections and the conscious and unconscious mind, to get its maximum potential. Through the inclusion of sensory representations, adapted through the language and communication system, seeking to change behavior patterns.
Unlearning is the key to success
Everything we learn is deposited in the subconscious mind. In this way we can perform tasks automatically, because they were learned at some point in our lives. Therefore, we do not have to think about the technical way to start the car and start it, since this task is done automatically due to repetition.
This is how our behavior, fears, response to the unknown, strengths and weaknesses, are marked by everything we have assimilated through family, society, academia and society. Therefore, neurolinguistic programming seeks to reprogram learned acts through the interaction of neurological procedures and language.
Especially because thoughts create reality, affecting your feelings and what you want. It is here, where NLP makes the individual plan what their objectives are, the resources they have and what prevents them from achieving their purpose, seeking to transform internal states, emotionality and behavior through positive thinking. Which is achieved through the repetition of motivational phrases and assertive actions that the brain adapts as its own.1
NLP techniques that shape the brain
The brain is directly connected to what your mouth says and your mind thinks. In this way, neurolinguistic programming becomes a communication tool with the power to change thoughts, helping the human being to generate strong personal changes, creating a better quality of life.
- Context reframing. It is one of the most used NLP techniques. It uses changing the meaning of what happens, in a particular situation that does not allow you to advance and achieve personal achievements. So, that opportunities are seen in misfortune or learning in an unfavorable act. Opting for the most positive option that improves the results.2
- Coping therapy. It helps to recognize that situations that have already been experienced have no way of changing. Leaving aside what was done or could be done. But, taking those experiences and experiences to modify the present actions, which are the ones that will mark the path towards the near future. Focused on improving and not repeating mistakes again.2
- Association and dissociation technique. Focused on taking the power out of bad memories. Since, although it is impossible not to remember a situation that marked your personal history. Through dissociation, the negative feeling it generates can be neutralized. In this way, it is possible to move on, without being burdened by experiences that damage behavior.2
Brain functions continue to be a subject of study, due to their complexity. However, it has been pointed out that despite the fact that we have behaviors and thoughts marked by genetics, the environment in which we live and experiences. We can through neurolinguistic programming techniques, reprogram the mind. Discarding the limiting thoughts that hold us back in learning, personal development, and success.
