Actor Ray Porter, who played Darkseid in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, does not rule out the return of Uxas on the big screen
Thanks to Zack Snyder’s: Justice League, one of the most powerful villains in the DC Universe debuted on the big screen, as is the case with Darkseid, who was played by actor Ray Porter.
Don’t Miss: The Inspiration Behind the Creation of Darkseid
Darkseid debuted in the pages of Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (November 1970). The goal of this villain is the domination of the entire universe, aided by the Anti-Life Equation, a mathematical formula that proves that life has no meaning and that everything must belong to the infamous villain created by Jack Kirby.
In an interview with the YouTube channel Geek House Show, Ray Porter thanked the great support that the fans gave to the Snyder Cut, and with it he could see the light of his appearance as Darkseid
“Sitting here in a store in Dubai and signing things, for me, is a wonderful way to say thank you to every single fan who believed and stood their ground. I owe all of this…to the fans, really.“.
Asked if there are any future plans for Darkseid or some new movie in the famous DC Extended Universe, as part of the Snyderverse, Porter doesn’t know if he will return in the future as the ruling tyrant of Apokalips.
“I don’t know anything about it, and I think a lot of moving parts would have to change places for it to happen, but that’s way above my pay grade.“.
Although Porter acknowledges that if he returns to play Darkseid in the future, a part of that decision will be down to fans of DC’s biggest team.
“I know that this fandom, if they want something bad enough, they can move mountains… I believe in the fandom and I have hope. There’s always hope”.
So were Darkseid’s plans on the big screen
On the eve of the premiere of the Snyder Cut of Justice League, Zack Snyder pointed out that his original plan was to give Darkseid more prominence in the second part of Justice League
“He’s certainly the bad boy of the sequel, but he’s definitely in full effect. He is running the show. He is there. I don’t want to, again, spoil it, but yeah, he’s definitely there.”.
Snyder explained that Uxas, Darkseid’s real name, is a nemesis who has unfinished business with the planet Earth, something that forged a deep hatred against the human race.
“He’s got tons of human motivation, he operates on another plane, but certainly, something happened to him in the past and he’s not happy about it, and it really hurts him.”
Additionally, Ava Duvernay and writer Tom King worked on The New Gods project, which Warner Bros. Pictures put on indefinite hiatus.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now available on the HBO Max digital platform.
