Last year, FIFA 22 was the best-selling video game in 17 of 19 European countries, according to Gfk data.
In 2021, the FIFA saga was the market leader with more than 9 million copies sold in just 48 hours from its launch.
FIFA 23 seeks to surpass the sales of more than nine million that FIFA 22 sold in its first days of release.
As part of a new FIFA 23 strategy, this year an alliance has been created with Marvel to launch a series of “superheroes”, including the Mexican Rafael Márquez.
With just over a month to go before the official launch of FIFA 23, the company, which set a record last year by adding more than 9 million players worldwide, hopes to at least achieve what has been done by FIFA 22, a title that, according to company data, generated revenue of 1.75 billion dollars.
To achieve this (or try, at least), one of the most interesting moves is the inclusion of two women’s soccer leagues: the Barclays Women’s Super League (England) and the Division 1 Arkema (France), which, in total, make up 24 teams available to FIFA users and fans.
Without a doubt, an extremely important move if we consider that we are in a context in which women’s soccer has been increasing in recent years. According to data from Nielsen IBOPE, soccer among women has grown to 146 percentwhich is why various interest groups have decided to place greater emphasis on promoting cultural change in favor of inclusion.
Notably, next year will be the first to see the launch of EA Sports FC, the successor to FIFA, but before that, the gaming community will have FIFA 23, a title that will tentatively arrive on September 30 of this year.
EA’s idea is, of course, to stay above the Japanese competition, Konami, which is also working on correcting the mistakes made last year with its eFootball, mistakes that even turned the title into the worst rated in the history of soccer video games, according to the Steam platform.
This is what Rafael Márquez looks like as a “superhero” of FIFA 23 and Marvel
This day a new FIFA 23 alliance was announced, from EA Sports, with Marvel, which, through FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) is designing a series of “superheroes” among which the Mexican Rafael Márquez stands out, named as “The Kaiser of Michoacán”.
Among other “FUT superheroes” that have been revealed, are the Uruguayan Diego Forlán, winner of the Ballon d’Or for the best player of the 2010 World Cup; Lúcio, former defender and world champion with the Brazilian National Team; and the Argentine Javier Mascherano, a former Barcelona player.
With this new strategy, for the first time, FIFA Ultimate Team cards will have a new design, and it also seeks to consolidate itself in an extremely important market, which is that of comics and superheroes, where Marvel is one of the most relevant industries. .
FIFA vs. eFootball
Without a doubt, the battle between EA Sports and Konami seems to have a new meaning, after the Japanese company announced the improvements it will offer in its next title, eFootball Season 2, with which it hopes to regain consumer confidence.
In conjunction with Digital Entertainment, the studio that is developing the video game, Konami has set its sights on correcting the bugs and the long list of bugs that shut down eFootball’s debut, and, in fact, it seems that it is achieving it. At least, this is demonstrated by a video published on YouTube that reveals the new graphic bet of the video game.
