Nine days are missing for the start of Qatar 2022, the most expensive World Cup in history, and for which nearly three million tickets have already been sold.
It seems that the end of 2022 could not be better for football fans, because, as is well known, the World Cup will arrive, for the first time in its history, on November 20 to end on December 18, days before Christmas.
Without a doubt, we are talking about one of the events that has given a lot to talk about, both on and off the field, because, for some time now, the complaints against the organizers have not stopped, due to the conditions in which are the workers who have dedicated themselves to building the infrastructures.
Information published in The Guardian reveals that, until May of this year, around 6,500 workers had diedaccording to data provided by the countries of origin of the workers: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan.
In addition, in recent days, some teams have demonstrated with various actions, trying to carry out a “boycott” against the World Cup, which, by the way, will be the last in its version of 32 teams, to then host 48 teams for the cup that will take place in 2026 in North America (Canada, the United States and Mexico).
Chart of the day: Qatar 2022 with more than 90% of tickets sold
For various reasons, it has become clear that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be historic. The figures, the organization and the controversy have made this sporting event one of the most discussed since it was revealed to the host country.
According to Qatar Supreme Committee, about 1.3 million football fans are expected to visit the FIFA World Cupthat is, approximately half of the current population of the Middle Eastern country.
Let us remember that, in reality, Qatar is a small country, with a total population of two million 930 thousand 524 people, which is why there is significant concern regarding the sports fair that will take place between November and December of this year.
Under this context, according to data from FIFA itselfUntil mid-October, 2.9 million tickets were sold for the 64 games, that is, 90 percent of the tickets destined for the sporting event of the year.
However, the organizers of the tournament announced that most of the tickets already sold were acquired by fans from Qatar, the United States, Saudi Arabia, England, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, France, Brazil and Germany.
