Profeco urged Hot Sale consumers to make responsible and intelligent purchases.
Profeco recently exhibited on a list the brands of soft drinks not suitable for consumption by children, due to their high levels of sugar.
The Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office conducted an investigation to determine which are the healthiest snacks from Sabritas, a brand that belongs to the Pepsico company and specializes in the production of the most popular snacks in Mexico in order to provide good information on the amount of sugars, salts and calories that the products have for sale in stores.
Profeco tested the snacks that belong to the Sabritas brand where according to their data, some products can be harmful to health, since they contain excess sodium and these cause diseases such as obesity and diabetes, which are very common in Mexico due to its high consumption of junk products.
The study that was carried out on the snacks of the Sabritas brand focused on the sodium content of each of the products that belong to Pepsico and the results were truly extraordinary, revealing that Doritos Nachos are the ones with the least salt, since they have 450 micrograms of sodium per 100 grams and meanwhile, a 223 g bag has 1,004 grams, which would be a healthy option to shake with friends.
Another of the snacks that are a healthy option to beat are the famous “Churrumais” which Profeco assures that it does not have a high sodium index, which is why they recommend the consumption of the product, since it has 979 mg and only 185 grams, however, it is important to mention that everything in excess is harmful.
On the other hand, it is important to mention that the The World Health Organization recommends that the intake of added sugars not exceed 10 percent. of caloric intake, since this harms people after generating diseases such as overweight and diabetes.
Finally, Mexico occupies the fifth place in obesity in the world where the WHO reports that 21 million are women who suffer from this problem, while 15 million are men and it is estimated that by 2030, 36.8 percent of people will suffer from this disease.
