The event has increased its relevance since its first edition in 2011.
In 2021, dl Buen Fin generated sales of 192 billion pesos.
In Mexico, the Buen Fin is inspired by Black Friday.
A few days before one of the most important promotional campaigns in Mexico begins, such as the Good End, the Federal Consumer Protection Office (Profeco), warned about thefts through QR codes on social networks.
Promotion and discount campaigns are the most anticipated by consumers around the world. In Mexico there is a wide calendar of these activities, where the most important is the Good End, which is a Government initiative together with the private one that invites companies to offer promotions to encourage consumption among the population.
This campaign is aligned in Mexico, with the date on which most employees receive an advance of their end-of-year bonuses or the economic benefit called “aguinaldo”.
In last year’s edition, El Buen Fin generated sales of 192 billion pesos, which is positive, if one considers that this occurred in seven days that the season lasted, against the 12 days of 2020, when 239 billion pesos were generated in more days.
Profeco is organized for the Good End
The biggest discount season in Mexico returns to its weekend format, this November 18 to 21, for which the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) has been protecting consumers.
“We bring information about a new form of scam that they are doing on social networks and on the internet, it is a scam using QR codes. They send QR codes offering a discount with that code, and when that code is downloaded, they steal the credit card information,” said the head of Profeco, Ricardo Sheffield Padilla.
Through the Consumer Magazine, for the month of November, it is explained in detail how the scams are being carried out.
“If someone falls, they would have to file a complaint with the Attorney General of the Republic,” explained the headline.
In that same order, the head of the agency recommended that Mexicans who, in order to avoid falling into this type of theft, should disable automatic actions, verify your transactions, do not share QR codes, try to have an antivirus, update the operating system, make sure of the authenticity, take precautions, do not scan the codes and doubt if they ask for your data.
In recent days, Profeco has issued various warnings to Mexican consumers to prepare for these campaigns. As an example, the website that I enable for people who want to compare prices and find out the cheapest within the offer will have to go to elbuenfin.profeco.gob.mx/. This page will be available from November 14.
“They are looking for us to make a reasoned purchase at El Buen Fin, we buy what we need, we buy what we can afford, the site is now available so that they can see the prices of the best-selling products at El Buen Fin,” Sheffield said. Padilla.
As part of this organization, Profeco announced that 1,200 public servants will be part of a review campaign in the most popular shopping centers. Similarly, 147 modules for orientation and reception of complaints will be installed.
Registrations for the 2022 edition of Buen Fin have not yet been opened, but in previous years, brands such as Liverpool, Coppel, Mercado Libre, among others, have participated in the discount season.
In conclusion, promotions are a very important tool for the economy of a brand, especially after coming out of a Covid-19 pandemic, which affected these establishments.
