Hideo Kojima and Xbox would be ending a collaboration agreement through which, the Japanese creative would receive investment and means to carry out his next game, so it would be Xbox exclusive. Some time ago it was leaked that both parties were in negotiations and, according to the latest reports, things have not progressed much from that point. Kojima and Xbox they would still be closing the deal, although it does not seem that there can be going back.
It is said that Kojima simply signed a letter agreeing to work with Xbox for his next project, although some fringes would still have to be closed for final production. According to Jeff Grubb of VenturaBeat, these negotiations are still underway to finish polishing the agreement, but Microsoft would already be moving money and resources for Hideo Kojima’s game development.
It is still not known for sure even what the game could be about, but these new details about the situation come together with the report that Microsoft is preparing an MMO RPG in the cloud with a thrid party studio, and the Japanese creative, in on more than one occasion, he has shared his interest in make games that change in real time. Kojima is said to have turned to Xbox for its developed cloud server infrastructure, although that is not something that has been confirmed yet.
For the moment, we can only wait for news about these negotiations, even if it is second-hand. As for Hideo Kojima’s project, counting on it to go ahead, goes for the long term. After the release of Death Stranding Directosr’s Cut, it is not very clear what the Japanese creative is working on.
