Surprisingly, Google today revealed the design and some of the specifications of its upcoming phones, confirming that the leaks of characters like Jon Prosser were real.
Through social networks and sharing information with North American sites such as The Verge, Google revealed that this year there will be the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, and that these will be the world’s first Android with a processor designed entirely in-house.
Goodbye to the Snapdragon
The chip is one of the most important elements in a phone, and it can make a difference when deciding on a purchase. Apple has been designing its own processors for years to have an edge over most of its rivals that use third-party-designed chips. Google will follow in Apple’s footsteps.
The next Pixels will have a chip called Tensor SoC, which was named after the Tensor Processing Units (TPU) that the company uses to power its data centers.
Although the firm did not reveal specific details, it did announce that it is an SoC powered by artificial intelligence, and that it will be accompanied by its Titan M2 security chip that we saw for the first time in the Pixel 3.
This chip will also include a 5G modem to connect to ultra-high-speed networks.
Differences between the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
Google mentioned that both phones will arrive with a triple rear camera, however, the Pro model will be the only one with a telephoto with 4x optical zoom.
Although the company did not reveal more details about the photography, it did specify that the main sensor of the Pixel 6 will have the ability to capture 150% more light.
On the other hand, the Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch screen with a QHD + resolution with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, while the Pixel 6 will drop to 6.4 inches with a FHD + resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate.
An important difference is that even though both models will carry the same SoC, the Pro model will have more memory versions, but the company did not specify the combinations for each device.
What is striking is that, just as the iPhone is a phone that everyone in the world can differentiate by its design, the Pixel 6 will also be unique in this regard, since its camera module is unique in the market.
Google has not revealed price and availability, but clarified that these are two premium phones, so they will likely be phones whose starting price will start near or above $ 1,000.
