After almost three decades, the legendary British band Pink Floyd released a new song. It’s about “Hey Hey Rise Up”, a previously unreleased track featuring two of the original members, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, with the voice of the Ukrainian singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk (from the band BoomBox).
In Mexico, as in much of the world, Pink Floyd became a trend and climbed the list of the most searched on Google.
Many thought that it was the expected and never finalized meeting with Roger Waters, the historic singer of the English band who later forged a career as a solo artist. Nothing of that.
Waters also participated in actions in favor of peace in Ukraine, but it was not in conjunction with his former teammates Gilmour and Mason.
Pink Floyd, led for many years by Gilmour, removed most of their songs from streaming platforms in Russia and Belarus.

A few weeks ago, Khlyvnyuk performed a Ukrainian homeland song and the video, shot in kyiv, was posted on the singer’s social media.
David Gilmour, who already knew the Ukrainian because they were both part of a show in London in 2015, said that video made him want to add music to it.
Khlyvnyuk, these days, He was hospitalized after he sustained an injury while taking part in clashes with Russian troops in Ukraine.
It was thus that the current leader of Pink Floyd contacted Khlyvnyuk and, together, they composed the new song “Hey Hey Rise Up”.
The video for “Hey Hey Rise Up” was released on YouTube and already has millions of views.
According to Pink Floyd, all profits will go to the humanitarian fight in Ukraine.
“We express our unconditional support for Ukraine. We want to show everyone that the majority of the world believes that it is wrong for a power to invade an independent and democratic country,” Gilmour said.
Pink Floyd was born in London in the 1960s and was a key part of Britain’s psychedelic music.
He released such immortal hits as “Dark Side of the Moon,” “Wish You Were Here” and the double album The Wall.
Singer Roger Waters left the band in 1985, and the remaining recorded together for the last time for the album The Division Bell, in 1994.

Through a video on YouTube, Roger Waters gave his opinion on Ukraine.
With the song “The Gunner’s Dream”, from the album The Final Cut, in the background, he responded to a letter from a Ukrainian named Alina.
“Dear Alina, I read your letter, I feel your pain, I am disgusted by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, I think it is a criminal mistake, the actions of a gangster. There must be an immediate ceasefire.” Waters said.
“I am sorry that Western governments are fueling the fire that will destroy their beautiful country by handing weapons to Ukraine instead of engaging in diplomacy to stop this carnage,” he added.
Waters also said that not only is Putin a gangster, and he listed George W. Bush, Tony Blair, Barack Obama and Shimon Peres. Waters’s father and grandfather died in wars in Europe in the first half of the 20th century.
