Different indices based on scientific studies have shown that our habits have a great influence on the risk of suffering from colon cancer as well as other types of cancer.
Thus, we can say that to prevent cancer it is key to lead a healthy lifestyle and habits to keep in mind are:
- keep a Healthy weight
- Carry out physical activity on a regular basis that can reduce the incidence of up to seven types of cancer
- Follow one diet rich in whole foods, vegetables, fruits and legumes key to obtaining fiber and various antioxidants.
- Limit the intake of fast food and other ultra-processed foods sources of fats and sugars.
- Avoid red and processed meats being recommended in its replacement the intake of fish as well as food sources of vegetable proteins.
- Minimize alcohol intake
- No Smoking or give up smoking to greatly benefit health.
Follow at least five recommendations out of the seven mentioned above can reduce the risk of colon and rectal cancer by 48% compared to those who have less adherence to them, as has been verified by analyzing data from more than 7,000 participants over six years.
