A couple of weeks ago it was announced that the price of the PS5 will increase in various regions, including Mexico. Although at the time a Microsoft representative assured that this will not be the case with Xbox SeriesX|S, Recently, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, was asked about it, issuing a statement that will surely calm the concerns of more than one person.
In an interview with CNBC, Spencer was questioned about the possibility of increasing the price of the Xbox Series X | S in the future. Fortunately, the manager does not have this in mind. This was what he commented:
“We are always evaluating our business in the future. So I don’t think we can say we’ll never do something. But when we look at our consoles today, and you talked about that, Series X and Series S, we think value is incredibly important. We love the position of the Series S in the market, which is our lowest cost console. More than half of our new players that we are finding are coming through the S Series.”

In this way, it is clear that the Xbox Series X | S will retain its price, at least for the time being. Along with this, Spencer was also questioned before the ability to continue to purchase studios after the Activision Blizzard purchase is complete. This is what he mentioned about it:
“This is such a competitive market. I don’t think we can press pause on anything. You know, Tencent is the biggest game company on the planet today and they continue to invest heavily in game content and game creators. Sony is a bigger business than us in games today and they continue to invest. When we look at the investments we have made, it is a highly competitive market. We strive to be a major player here. We want to offer great content for our players and we are going to stay active. Like I said, whether it’s investing in our internal teams that are already building great games that people know and love. Whether it’s building new partnerships.”
It looks like Xbox and Microsoft aren’t ready to stop buying studios just yet.. After spending nearly $70 billion on Call of Duty makers, we likely won’t see an acquisition of this stature for a long time. We can only wait and see what the plans of these companies are.
