Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the new installment in the Activision Blizzard saga, which for now continues to be multiplatform.
A few days ago it was confirmed that the release of Call of Duty games on PlayStation had an expiration dateWell, although Call of Duty is still multiplatform, the truth is that Sony players only have three years of news left by the well-known Activision saga after Microsoft has acquired the company and the agreement with PS5 seems unsuitable for Jim Ryan, something for which now Phil Spencer has entered into debate.
Although the commercial agreement for Call of Duty to continue to come to PlayStation for a few years is not public, Phil has explained: “I can’t talk much about where we are in the regulatory processes just because of the mechanism that is“. However, he states: “Our expectation is that we will continue to release Call of Duty on PlayStation and other places where people will see it.and hopefully expand the places where people play all of our games“, without going into details of the duration of this.

One of Sony’s concerns, that Microsoft includes Call of Duty in Xbox Game Pass, has also entered into debate. “Competition is about driving competitors to innovate, push competitors to do new things like the cloud, such as subscriptions, such as creating new intellectual property. And all we’ve been focused on is how do we compete effectively, how we offer more value to our customers.”
The future of Call of Duty
The most imminent future of the saga is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2which will come to both PS4 and PS5 next October 24th. In fact, the consoles continue with exclusivities like the Oni Operator Pack, which includes the ‘Oni’ operator along with an exclusive weapon blueprint for use in both games, and holding open betas. However, the future of the saga as an Xbox exclusive is up in the air, so we will have to be attentive to future news.
