The engines of the new Peugeot 408
Regarding the mechanical section, it should be noted that the offer is not particularly wide. However, the new 408 can boast of betting without complexes on electrification. Let’s go by parts. The access motorization is set by a 130 hp 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine. A block associated with an eight-speed EAT8 automatic gearbox and a front-wheel drive system.
Said gasoline engine is the only conventional engine. The rest of the mechanics present plug-in hybrid technology (PHEV). One step above is the model Plug-in Hybrid 180 e-EAT8. It combines a 150 hp PureTech petrol engine with an 81 kW (110 hp) electric motor to develop a total power of 180 hp.
The most efficient alternative goes through motorization Plug-in Hybrid 225 e-EAT8. This plug-in hybrid variant combines a 180 PS Pure Tech petrol engine with an 81 kW (110 PS) electric motor to reach 225 PS respectively. Both PHEV mechanics are equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and have a front-wheel drive configuration.
One of the key components of the new 408 plug-in hybrid is a 12.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. Thanks to this battery you can travel up to 63 kilometers in 100% electric mode according to the WLTP cycle. This makes it worthy of the environmental label 0 Emissions of the DGT (General Directorate of Traffic) with all the mobility advantages that this entails.
