Perfection doesn’t exist, but for Neil Druckmann these eight video games come very close. And no, there is no The Last of Us 2

Does the perfect video game? Surely, like everything in this life, the answer is negative, but it is still a very interesting question. There are many examples that we can go to, especially if we take as a reference the notes of the highest rated games on Metacritic.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, GTA IV, SoulCalibur… the options are multiple, diverse and recurrent in a discussion of these characteristics. On this occasion, the question has been collected by Neil Druckmann, the director of The Last of Us: Part II, who has offered what for him are the perfect video games.

Many of these works may have had a vital influence on a developer who has shaped the Jak & Daxter saga, the Adventures of Nathan Drake and Ellie’s Journey with Joel. This is the complete list that Druckmann puts on the table:

As we can see, the creator has opted for a good variety of video games. Druckmann has 43 years to his credit, for which he has lived practically the entire heyday of the industry, being able to take examples as remembered as the first Super Mario Bros. or the legendary Tetris.

However, Druckmann only rescues Inside like a perfect game time of the 2010s. Of course, the range is very wide with possibilities everywhere to choose from, although he has not included any of the games he has worked on, not even The Last of Us: Part II. What are your options for perfect video games?
