- Although hospitals were once thought to be the safest places in the country, this is no longer the case.
- Aggressions and attacks against health professionals within their own workplaces are becoming more and more frequent.
- The most recent case occurred with an IMSS doctor in Aguascalientes at the time of giving a scheduled consultation.
One of the main activities carried out by health professionals is caring for patients. It is an activity for which several years of preparation are needed, although in reality you never finish learning. Traditionally, it is expected that the service within the office occurs without setbacks, although in practice there are anecdotes of all kinds. One of the most shameful occurred in our country because a doctor suffered a robbery during the consultation and the culprit was the companion of the patient.
There are no longer places far from danger
Until a few years ago it I believed that the safest places were hospitals and clinics. People in charge of caring for and attending to the health of others work in these spaces. While the visitors are sick they feel bad and need a quick solution.
Unfortunately, this is no longer the case now because the incidents reported in hospitals are becoming more and more frequent. The most serious are the attacks against doctors and they are not exclusive to rural areas but occur in any part of the country.
Just a few weeks ago we shared with you the information of an attack with a firearm inside a hospital in the State of Mexico. The result was the murder of a resident of Cuban origin who worked in that hospital.
They rob a doctor at the time of giving a scheduled consultation
But now it is time to learn about another story that, despite not having a fatal outcome, has caused strong outrage. It all happened in the General Hospital of Zone No. 1 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Aguascalientes. Everything was going normally until a doctor gave a consultation that ended in a sad incident.
Based on what was reported by local media, a patient arrived for an appointment she had scheduled and came with a companion. Both entered the office and the incident was generated when the doctor began with the review of the patient and left his phone on the desk.
At the end of the service He noticed that his cell phone was not in the place he had left it. Although he asked the companion if she had seen the device, the answer was negative.
The next action was use your computer and with an application identified the location of your phone. The most surprising thing was that he saw that he was inside the office itself. Therefore, she requested support from the hospital’s security personnel and when checking the patient’s companion, it was found that she had hidden her phone.
The alleged perpetrator was automatically detained and channeled to an office of the Public ministry. While the affected doctor declared that he was willing to testify so that this fact does not go unpunished. For now, it is a painful experience that nobody wants to experience, but it shows that not even within the doctor’s office one can be sure.
