The Oreca # 65 and # 24 of Panis Racing and PR1 Mathiasen will wear an ‘Art Car’ livery at the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Sister prototypes under the management of Tech 1, the two LMP2 have a decoration in which only the color scheme changes and that has been created by artist Laurent Minguet. In this sense, the two prototypes will share a garage at Le Mans, a garage that will receive the name of ‘Racing Art Gallery’ and that will show different works under the influence of a Minguet that will be present at La Sarthe to complete the painting of the bodywork of both LMP2.
About, Laurent minguet has explained: “My goal is to show that there is direct coherence with my work and the hyperrealism of my work can be seen in Oreca’s two cars. The prototypes have been created playing with the artistic codes. The raw wood or marble bottom provides great originality. Drops of colors applied to the entire body increase the sense of speed of the cars. I want to propose a specific scenery and the paintings with my work will be sold in the official shop of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The benefits will go directly to a patronage for the cardiac operation of a child».
Panis Racing’s Oreca # 65, driven at Le Mans by Julien Canal, Will Stevens and James Allen, is the prototype that has been designed on ‘wood’. It thus presents a brown base color that serves to superimpose the blue, red and black tones that reflect the speed effect that is assumed to be an LMP2. For its part, Oreca # 24 by Patrick Kelly, Gabriel Aubry and Simon Trummer features the same decoration, albeit with a white background representing ‘marble’. The two prototypes thus give continuity to the ‘Art Cars’ that have competed at Le Mans since the 1970s.
