Building the Steven Grant/Marc Spector story and returning to a Marvel production is an opportunity for actor Oscar Isaac to do “something fucking crazy.”
In 2022, Egyptian mythology is present in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the premiere of the Moon Knight series, where actor Oscar Isaac seeks to do “something really crazy”.

In an interview with Empire magazine, Oscar Isaac revealed that joining Moon Knight is a moment of revenge in his career, after his appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse, where the actor of Guatemalan descent brought Apocalypse to life.
“The idea of going back to ‘handmade’ movies, character studies… I was desperate to feel that feeling. (Moon Knight) It seemed ‘handmade’… And it’s the first legitimate Marvel character studio since Iron Man…”.
Isaac mentioned that this new opportunity to have a series from Marvel Studios will be the time to build Marc Spector in his own way.
“I thought, ‘Maybe I can hijack this thing. Maybe this is the chance to do something really crazy on a big stage.”.
One detail that Oscar Isaac highlights about his role in Moon Knight is the possibility of addressing Steven Grant’s mental problems, something that may seem invisible in the eyes of society.
“What I like most about this is that it is an exploration of a mind that does not know itself. A human being who does not know his own brain. I found that really moving: what the mind is capable of in terms of survival. But the workload was huge: the technical challenge of embodying these different characters, physically, the way I manifest my body… it took a lot of energy.”
Konshu’s powers present in Moon Knight
The series follows Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac), a gift shop clerk who suffers from memory impairments, blanking out or bringing back memories of another life.
Steven discovers that he has dissociative identity disorder, and that he shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As they face off against their enemies, Steven/Marc must navigate their complex identities. As they plunge into a deadly mystery among the mighty gods of Egypt.
Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab and the team of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directed all six episodes. Jeremy Slater is the writer of the first season.
The first episodes of Moon Knight will air on March 30 on the Disney+ digital platform.
