Kristen Stewart, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Dune, Enchantment and more among the nominees for the 2022 Oscars
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the nominees for the 94th edition of the Oscar Awards, whose gala is scheduled to be held on March 27 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, a stage to which the awards will return after one year of absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ten feature films have been chosen, among which ‘The power of the dog’, ‘Dune’ and ‘Belfast’ stand out as the main favorites.

The actors Tracee Ellis Ross (‘Black-ish’) and Leslie Jordan (‘Will and Grace’) have been in charge of announcing the candidates for this 2022, in a telematic presentation broadcast live through the different channels and platforms that has the Hollywood Academy. Some categories were announced by representatives of different civil communities and unions.
‘The power of the dog’, the applauded film by Jane Campion, is positioned as a favorite with 12 nominations; followed by ‘Dune’, Denis Villeneuve’s science fiction feat, with 10 nominations. ‘Belfast’, one of the favorites by the specialized media, aspires to seven awards, being in main categories such as best film, best direction, best supporting actor and best supporting actress.
The 94th edition also stands out for its strong international presence. The Japanese ‘Drive My Car’, directed by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, has made history by being the thirteenth foreign language film to compete for the award for best film. In addition, it opts for three other statuettes (best direction, best adapted screenplay and best international film). Norway’s ‘The Worst Person in the World’ also stands out, which is up for best international film and best original screenplay. Despite failing to get a nomination for ‘The Good Boss’, Spain manages to have a presence in this 94th edition with the two nominations for ‘Madres paralleles’ (best soundtrack for Alberto Iglesias and best actress for Penélope Cruz) and with Javier Bardem, the which opts for the statuette for ‘Ser los Ricardo’.
