Viral trends are, without a doubt, one of the main reasons for the increase in Internet users worldwide,
It is currently estimated that just over 63 percent of the world’s population is immersed in the Internet.
Within the current context, social networks are fundamental for millions of people in the world, since they offer the possibility of carrying out endless tasks from a distance, thanks to the large number of information tools that are available, the which is mainly provided by content creators, who can turn a piece of advice or information into a trend; However, not all of these can be entirely beneficial, as shown by growing concern on the part of ophthalmologists, who warn about a viral video that prevents people from changing the color of their eyes.
Data provided by We are Social, warn that there is currently a digital community of more than 4.950 million people worldwide, a figure that represents just over 63 percent of the digital communityOf which, it is estimated that just over 50 million are considered content creators and just over 2 million predict to dedicate themselves full-time to this activity. That is why the role of creatives and influencers has grown exponentially, allowing the Internet community to obtain all kinds of information and content, such as shopping experiences, tips and advice.
For millions of people, walking with the color of their eyes can be one of their main dreams, a desire that can bring various consequences, not always beneficial, as pointed out by the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology (SEO), because they warned that an influencer possibly practiced a technique called keratopigmentationwhich consists of introducing a pigment with which the cornea is stained by means of the so-called femtosecond laser (also used in other eye surgeries), to achieve the desired hue.
Reason for which the community of ophthalmologists have pointed out that those who practice this technique have presented corneal decompensation that has led to the loss of its transparency.
“I have seen some cases of young people with significant bilateral corneal decompensation, caused by tattooing, who required a corneal transplant”, indicated the deputy secretary and ophthalmologist of SEO, José Antonio Gegúndez.
