The first essential consideration is that absolutely everything we experience is about neural maps; that is, even what we perceive on the outside are psychological interpretations. With this guideline, we were able to identify that what is referred to as “reality” only addresses experiences with consistent causality that we corroborate with other intelligent beings: intersubjective cognition. After all, all we know is mental.
The second consideration is that we have no way of verifying that our perceptions are identical in other minds, much less that ontological reality —how it truly is— is remotely similar.
Therefore, as human beings, we can only know the individual simulations that our biological consciousness allows us.
With this context, we open the door to understand the near future in relation to contemporary technology and some of its dangers and opportunities.
In short, we will create new “realities”. We will do this through artificial interfaces —such as lenses and screens— and directly with physical interactions.
Regarding the use of special attachments, the augmented reality acquires great relevance. Basically, superimposed virtual experiences are generated that coexist in real time with our perceptions. Goal, the company that owns Facebookhas invested billions of dollars in the development of these types of innovations and the progress is impressive.
With respect to physical interactions, the “leap into the real world” of artificial intelligence is imminent. Open AIowner of ChatGPThas just invested (March 2023) stealthily millions of dollars in the robotics company 1X. In short, the famous automated language model will get a body very soon.
With this information, it is easy to contemplate futuristic short-term scenarios:
Virtual and “non-virtual” reality will be one. In this new hybrid universe it will be much easier to fulfill our most daring desires, what we value will be very different, we will see a significant economic, interrelational and productive restructuring and everything will change forever.
