A 52-year-old bottle of whiskey made at Japan’s famed Karuizawa distillery is auctioned off as a non-fungible token (NFT).
The initial price of the NFT and the bottle of whiskey is about USD 75,000, that is, about 62 ethers (ETH). The NFT BlockBar Wine and Spirits Marketplace is managing the auction.
For whiskey collectors, the extremely rare bottle of whiskey from the cask “The Last Masterpiece”, made in 1970, is attractive, as there are now only 211 bottles of it left, according to a Tuesday report from Finbold. Now, an NFT collector can bolster their collection with a token that verifies genuine ownership of a bottle.
The auction started on Tuesday and will continue until July 18. The NFT and bottle artwork was made especially for the BlackBar auction by calligrapher Sounn Takeda. So far one bid has been placed on the item.
American clothing brand Old Navy has released a new $19.95 Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) number 7285 t-shirt. Is this a good thing for the BAYC?
Some have questioned the association, while others are delighted that their favorite NFT collection is gaining wide recognition in mainstream culture. BAYC owner JBond said in a Tweet on Friday which generally helps Bored Apes.
I saw arguments on whether a $19.99 @OldNavy shirt with an ape on it hurts or helps bored apes
Thoughts:
1) It helps – a licensing example between a major clothing brand & bored ape
2) It helps drive awareness too
3) It doesn’t necessarily hurt official BAYC shirt value. Why?⬇️— JBond (@jbondwagon) July 15, 2022
I’ve seen discussions about whether a $19.99 @OldNavy t-shirt with an ape on it hurts or helps Bored Ape. My opinion:
1) It does help: it’s an example of license between a big clothing brand and a Bored Ape
2) It also helps raise awareness
3) Does not necessarily detract from the value of the official BAYC jersey. Why?
According to the terms of service of the creator of BAYC, Yuga Labs, owners have the right to use their BAYC image as they wish in most circumstances.
Some members of the NFT community claimed that this was an unauthorized use of the image. However, the Old Navy product site indicates that the image on the shirt is under license.. The owner of this BAYC is clearly an enthusiast, as he owns six other BAYCs, 11 Mutant Apes and 20 Otherdeeds, along with two Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs.
Create more in The Sandbox
You can now publish your created game assets to the Metaverse and NFT gaming platform The Sandbox.
A Wednesday announcement from the project describes how voxel creators can now post their artwork and use it in their LAND metaverse plots.
The publishing process seems pretty straightforwardas a creator only needs an account on the platform to create an asset using VoxEdit, and then export it to The Sandbox marketplace for publication.
The drawback is that creations may not be issued or minted as NFTs initially. However, the minting and sale will be enabled soon.
