The secretary general of the National Action Party (PAN) in Nuevo León, Obed Meza, died of complications from COVID-19This was confirmed by the political body itself.
Meza Hernández, 47, was hospitalized because he was ill with coronavirus, but his health worsened and this Friday he lost his life.
Through social networks, the state party as well as some of his colleagues announced the death and expressed their condolences.
“With deep sadness, we regret the sensitive death of our colleague and friend, Obed Alejandro Meza Hernández, Secretary General of our party. We unite in feeling with his family and friends, extending our deepest condolences “lamented the PAN of Nuevo León on its official Twitter account, followed by an obituary.
For its part, the State Secretary of Health, Manuel de la O Cavazos, announced that Meza Hernández was treated at clinic 25 of the IMSS, where he entered in a very serious condition, as he had an oxygen saturation of less than 70% and he deteriorated rapidly, without it being possible to save his life, despite the fact that the medical personnel did what was humanly possible.
Manuel de la O said he felt enormous sadness because many young people are dying, as well as Meza Hernández, since, In this third wave of the pandemic, the economically active population is the most affected.
The head of State Health emphasized that 97% of the patients admitted to the Metropolitan Hospital are people without vaccination.
By disclosing that 1,750 infections and 43 deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in the entity, the secretary pointed out that among the deceased is a two-year-old child, without any comorbidity. “He did not have asthma, cancer, any added disease, he was a healthy child,” he said.
A day earlier, the death of a newborn without any disease and a nine-month-old baby with West syndrome was recorded.
Until August 13, in Mexico there are already 247,414 deaths confirmed by the new coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as 3,068,329 accumulated cases, reported the Ministry of Health of the federal government. In this way, in the last 24 hours there were 603 deaths and 22,758 new infections, reaching a new record of deaths since April.
Mexico City and the State of Mexico are the entities with the highest number of estimated active cases (with start date of the last 14 days by the positivity index, by entity and epidemiological week). At the national level, 153,081 infections of this type are calculated.
In addition, there are more than 12,000 suspected deaths that could add to the total in the next few hours. They also counted 2,405,433 recovered patients and, on the other hand, more than 26 million people with a complete vaccination scheme are registered.
Mexico City registers most of the accumulated cases in the country and alone represents 27% of all registered cases by residence entity.
