At this time of year we begin to witness one of the most common events in the industry: financial statements. As we have already seen in the case of Sony and Microsoft, now it’s Nintendo’s turn, which has revealed, as usual, an excellent exercise for this fiscal year.
The figures correspond to the Q2 of fiscal year 2022, which reflects the performance between July 1 and September 30. Once again, the Nintendo Switch figures have done nothing but grow. There are already 92.87 million units sold of the hybrid console around the world and the brutal figure of 101.63 million Wii is getting closer and closer. The previous mark indicated 89.04 million for Nintendo Switch.
If we divide the data, we find that 76.34 million correspond to the model launched in 2017, while Nintendo Switch Lite accounts for 16.53 million. Therefore, this time we are left without knowing how the Nintendo Switch OLED has fared in its premiere, the review with the best screen.
All in all, revenues have fallen by 18.9% (remaining at 4,718 million euros) and profits have also decreased by 14.1% (with 2,858 million euros positive). The company itself has recognized the difficulties in reaching projected production due to pandemic and especially the important crisis of components for the consoles. This has resulted in a decrease in the sales forecast for the end of the fiscal year by 1.50 million units.
Mario Kart 8 is still in the lead
If the hardware is more than consolidated, the software is not far behind either. Are 681 million games sold for Nintendo Switch, the third highest figure for a Nintendo console after Wii and Nintendo DS. Of course, it’s time to update the ranking with the current figures and it looks like this:
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (38.74 million units)
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons (34.85 million units)
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (25.71 million units)
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (24.13 million units)
- Pokémon Sword / Shield (22.64 million units)
- Super Mario Odyssey (21.95 million units)
- Super Mario Party (16.48 million units)
- Pokémon Let’s Go (13.83 million units)
- Splatoon 2 (12.68 million units)
- Ring Fit Adventure (12.21 million units)
On the other hand, Nintendo has also specified that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD has reached 3.6 million in sales and New Pokémon Snap remains at 2.19 million. The company has indicated that third-party titles continue to increase their sales in a stable way, reaching the figure of 18 works that have surpassed one million sales on Nintendo Switch.
