It is increasingly common to find different types of vehicles on the roads, which has encouraged the General Directorate of Traffic to create new signs that inform drivers of what type of energy they will encounter during the journey.
Today, on Spanish roads, vehicles with combustion engines propelled at gasoline, diesel, LPG or CNGbut also electric and hybrid.
And not all service stations offer the same type of energy, so drivers with vehicles that use electricity or gas to function they have greater difficulties in finding the right place to recharge or refuel.
For this reason, and “in view of the urgent need to undertake the signaling of the electric recharging points already installed on highways and urban roads, the aforementioned departments have agreed on the format of the signal to identify its location»says the statement issued by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).
“Likewise, it was necessary to have the corresponding electric vehicle pictogram for use when it is necessary to specify that the scope of the signage refers to this type of vehicle,” the document expands.
So are the new signs
In practice, this means the addition of new signs on the roads, which will indicate the types of charging points located on Spanish roads:
- Fuel dispenser and electric recharging station: indicates the location of a fuel pump or service station with availability of an electric recharging station.
- Electric charging station: indicates the location of an electric charging station.
- Fuel dispenser, LPG and electric recharging station: indicates the location of a fuel pump or service station with availability of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or autogas and an electric recharging station.
In addition, it also presents electric vehicle signage pictogramwhich will be used when it is necessary to indicate that the scope of the signaling refers to this type of vehicle.
Yes indeed, none of these signals will indicate additional information such as the number of recharging points, the power of electric chargers or other types of useful data for the user of this type of vehicle, which is increasingly present in the mobile fleet of our country.
On the other hand, the resolution of the DGT indicates that no need to replace installed signs for its adaptation to this instruction, since it will be applied when the signs are renewed due to their state of conservation.
