AVM continues to expand their range of connected home devices and they have now announced the FRITZ! Box 6850 5G arrival in Spain, an all-in-one router whose main novelty compared to the previous 6850 model launched in 2020 is the compatibility with 5G mobile networks.
With the already classic clean and minimalist look in the brand’s characteristic white and red colors, the equipment is compatible with the 6 GHz frequency of the technology of 5G mobile phone, as well as the most common LTE and LTE-Advanced Pro frequencies, also having Ethernet and WiFi connectivity classical.

As conventional router specifications we are faced with a dual band model compatible with other manufacturer’s WiFi Mesh equipment and capable of dual linking 866 Mbps WiFi AC + 400 Mbps WiFi N, which adds up to a maximum of up to 1266 Mbps in the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands respectively.
We have four Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as a USB 3.0 to connect peripherals and network devices such as hard drives and printers that we want to share among various home computers. Also, the router comes with telephone exchange and DECT base for wireless telephony with up to 6 terminals and home automation systems. It also has a connection for analog telephones and features such as call forwarding and answering machine.
The operating system of the computer is FRITZ! OS, a software that incorporates advanced functions such as firewalls, parental control and guest access to the wireless network. But undoubtedly the differentiating feature of this model is the option of connect to 5G networks (as well as previous versions of 3G UMTS / HSPA + and 4G LTE) by entering the corresponding Mobile operator SIM into the slot on the back of the computer.
This function can be useful for cases where we do not have the possibility, or it does not suit us, to contract an ADSL, cable or fiber optic connection, such as in second homes.
The router has capabilities 4 x 4 MIMO in 5G up to 1.3 Gbps for the bands n1 (2.1 GHz), n3 (1.8 GHz), n5 (850 MHz), n7 (2.6 GHz), n8 (900 MHz), n20 (800 MHz), n28 (700 MHz) , n38 (2.6 GHz), n40 (2.3 GHz), n41 (2.5 GHz), n78 (3.5 GHz) and if we connect via 4G (LTE CAT-16 modem) we will have a maximum capacity from up to 1 Gbps.
Price and availability
At the moment the manufacturer has not communicated with what price this model will be available in Spain, so we will stay tuned to update when they provide this information.
