Netflix will be in charge of bringing the Bioshock movie, one of the most popular video games from 2K Games. Know the details in this note!
Netflix announced a collaboration with take-two Y VertigoEntertainment to produce an adaptation of bioshock, one of the most popular franchises in the world of video games. The news came through the official account of Netflix Geeked in Twitterwhich in addition to confirming the launch of the project, released a phrase linked to the first installment of the saga: “We all make decisions, but in the end our decisions shape us.”
Universal’s first (failed) attempt
It’s not the first time bioshock tries to enter the world of cinema, in 2007 2K Games released the first video game, developed by Irrational Games. In it we were presented with the dystopian city of Rapture with a society in the midst of a civil war, people addicted to a serum that gives them supernatural powers and dangerous creatures called “Big Daddies” who protect some girls who sneak between the small spaces of the scenarios . In this cruel world we controlled Jack, a survivor of a plane crash in the Atlantic Ocean, and a newcomer to Rapture.
The success of bioshock both in reception and sales was so great that 2K Games scheduled downloadable content and two sequels (Bioshock 2 in rapture and Bioshock Infinite in Columbia City). Furthermore, it was agreed with Universal Pictures to produce a theatrical adaptation with Gore Verbinsky at the address (Pirates of the Caribbean). For better or for worse, the project did not come to fruition due to budget problems.
No director or screenwriters
adaptation of bioshock by Netflix is just brewing so there is still no director, no screenwriter, no established cast, much less how the plot of the saga will unfold, so we will have to wait. In recent years, Netflix became the cradle of video game adaptations: The Witcher, Castlevania or Cupheadamong other renowned franchises that already have their own series on the platform.
