After losing 200,000 subscribers, Netflix is now laying off employees of Tudum, its own news blog.
Tudum was launched in December of last year as a way to make users aware of what was happening with their products (series and movies).
So far the reason for said dismissal is unknown, although it occurs in a context in which Netflix seems to collapse more.
Just last December Netflix launched Tudum, its news blog, and is now laying off several editorial staff.
As it is already in the public domain, a few days ago it was announced that Netflix lost, for the first time in its history, some 200 thousand subscribers in the first quarter of 2022 alone; However, this could only be the beginning of a much more resounding fall, since, for the second quarter, the platform is expected to lose around two million more users.
Despite this, it should be noted the Los Gatos, California rig remains at the top, although its presence in the market has begun to deteriorate due, among other things, to the advancement of other services such as HBO Max or Disney Plus, which even already offer a much cheaper modality in their subscription plans.
Although it is true that we can still refer to Netflix as the king of streaming, reality dictates that having lost, in monetary figures, around 50 billion dollars was a hard blow for the platform, which, from the outset, has started to welcome the idea of including ads in their service and thereby offering a cheaper subscription plan to reach new subscribers.
Reed Hastings himself, co-CEO of Netflix, announced that, although it will not happen soon, the idea of launch a cheaper subscription plan, which would implement ads in the content of the platform.
“Those who have followed Netflix know that I have been against the complexity of advertising and am a big fan of the simplicity of subscription. But as much as I’m a fan of that, I’m more of a fan of consumer choice. And allowing users who would like a lower price and tolerate advertising to get what they want makes a lot of sense,” Hastings said.
Netflix lays off Tudum employees
The complicated days for Netflix seem not to end yetWell, according to information published in some media, the platform has fired a total of 10 employees from Tudum, its news website dedicated to fans.
In December of last year, Tudum was officially launched as a way to get closer to fans of series like Stranger Things, Love Is Blind, among other; that is, it is the communication channel between Netflix and its subscribers and fans.
This Thursday, according to what has been reported, at least 10 workers in the editorial area have already been fired and, at the moment, the causes are not known. However, it should be noted that this decision comes just after the loss of 200 thousand users reported a few days ago.
Looking to the future One of the big bets of the streaming service lies in the next release of the fourth season of stranger things, one of his most successful and viral series in history.
