The startup aims to create AI tools that “help humanity in its search for understanding and knowledge” and that Grok has been designed to answer questions with a little ingenuity.
Musk, who has criticized Big Tech’s AI efforts as plagued by censorship, launched xAI in July, which he called the “ultimate truth-seeking AI” that seeks to understand the nature of the universe to rival with Bard, from Google, and Bing AI, from Microsoft.
“Grok has real-time access to information through the X platform, which is a huge advantage over other models,” Musk added.
X, the social media company formerly known as Twitter that Musk owns, is independent of xAI, but the two collaborate closely. xAI also works with its electric car manufacturer Tesla and other companies.
Last week, Musk told British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak that he believed AI was “the most disruptive force in history.”
Technology will be able to “do it all” and will make employment as we know it today a thing of the past, Musk speculated at the first AI World Security Summit, in Bletchley Park, England.
In 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, which has created a frenzy for generative AI technology around the world, but left the board in 2018.
