Artificial intelligence is everywhere. And in a commune in the capital of Chile, Las Condes, they have applied it in their public transportation system. Perhaps for most people who use the free Las Condes transportation system, it is imperceptible.
However, each bus – free for residents – is equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology that allows for maximum safety for passengers and correct monitoring of the modern fleet.
How does it work?
The system, created and monitored in real time by the technology company WIT, is a pioneer in Chile and has an integrated platform of GPS devices, a passenger counter Artificial Intelligence system. This solution consists of a product based on binocular vision technology and intelligent video analysis.
This is how high precision is achieved when detecting human morphological characteristics (head and shoulder) and movement when traveling in a vehicle. The system is fully integrated to validate the number of passengers who have circulated in each vehicle; in addition to knowing the capacity of each of their buses. Accompanied by a real-time camera monitoring system.
“From an operational point of view, the Municipality can optimize routes and, therefore, reduce travel times; Likewise, an added value is obtained: resource planning, since the technology provided through the passenger counter can assign buses more efficiently based on demand,” says Alejandro González, CEO of WIT Technological Innovation.
Users of this modern system benefit from accurate and timely information, reducing waiting times and ensuring quality transportation service.
Accidents and more: everything monitored
Through cameras that have artificial intelligence (AI) that transmit images and local audio of the bus via streamingcontinuous transmission, the observation center can detect anomalies, incidents or unusual situations.
In addition, GPS devices have Eco Driving, a module that generates tracking and reports on the driving pattern. These reports serve to evaluate and monitor adequate driving that offers safety to bus users.
“The implementation of this integrated system reflects the municipality’s commitment to the efficiency, safety and well-being of its citizens, contributing to smarter urban mobility oriented toward community service,” González concluded.
