MultiVersus It’s not yet playable for everyone, as it’s still in limited early access, but that’s not stopping it from becoming the most popular fighting game on PC, with thousands of players online.
In fact, MultiVersus it’s doing so well that it’s setting records for its genre on PC and its average player count is higher than all other major fighting games on Steam combined.
According to Steam Charts, which analyzes concurrent Steam players, the free-to-play fighting game has an average of 38,007 players online, reaching 61,964 players at its peak so far. This puts the fighting game developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment above the combined total player counts of the next 13 most popular fighting games still supported on PC.
These titles include Brawlhalla, Tekken 7, DNF Duel, Street Fighter 5, Mortal Kombat 11, Guilty Gear Strive, King of Fighters 15, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, among others. Looking at this list, it’s clear that these are top-notch fighting games, and yet MultiVersus beats them all. The combined total number of players online for all 13 games on PC over the past month is 28,902, which is well below MultiVersus’ 38,007.
The next three most popular fighting titles on PC are Brawlhalla (12,426 average players in 30 days on Steam); Tekken 7 (4,436); and DNF Duel (2,766). Meanwhile, its closest rival for the all-time peak is Dragon Ball FighterZ, with 44,234 players, and Brawlhalla, with 34,169, meaning MultiVersus takes the record for setting the highest all-time peak with 61,964. for a PC fighting game.
MultiVersus is currently in limited early access, and is only playable by those who have signed up to compete in Evo 2022, who have previously participated in Closed Alpha testing, who have purchased a Founder’s Pack, and who have watched one hour of the game. I play on Twitch.
But the free-to-play cross-platform fighting game will go into open beta tomorrow, July 26, and perhaps when it launches in full the game will set new records. We’ll have to wait and see.
