The Disney+ series Ms. Marvel has already released its second chapter and in this note we tell you all the easter eggs and references that we saw in the episode. Read more here!
The second series of Marvel which lands on Disney+ this year is Ms Marvel and this week we already have the second episode available on the platform. Kamala Khan, the protagonist, is the first Muslim superheroine of the MCU and is equal or more a fan of Marvel than us. For this reason, each chapter seems to have several easter eggs and references to many of the characters we know so well. Here we tell you what we saw in episode 2.
First of all, If you haven’t seen the chapter yet, beware of the spoilers that follow in the note.. In this episode we discover a little more of the powers of Kamalahow is he training (along with his friend Bruno) to be able to hook them back and more information about her family (which seems to be very related to her powers). However, there are still many questions to answer, but be patient, it’s just the second episode.
During this episode, Ms Marvel He had several quite mysterious visions where he saw an unknown woman. However, at the end of the chapter, we see that she is connected (she seems to be the mother) with Kamranthe new student of the school and love interest of Kamala. Below we talk in more detail. Without making it any longer, let’s go with the easter eggs and references.
Nod to Kamala’s powers in the comics and their similarity to Ant-Man’s
In the comics, Kamala It has powers different from those we see in the series. Yes, there are certain similarities, but they are not exactly the same. On the pages, Ms Marvel has abilities similar to those of mr fantastic (because it can be stretched) and those of Ant Man (because you can reduce or increase its size).
In episode 2 of the series, Kamala he is talking to his friend Bruno and tells him how he’s been testing and figuring out what he can do with his powers (and what he’d like to do). It is at this point that she says that she tried to shrink and talk to ants, although she was unsuccessful. When asked why she believes that she has powers of Ant-Man, Kamala he replies that it is because they are both charming and appear to be much younger. An ole for fans of comics.
Giant fist typical of Ms. Marvel
Continuing with the powers of our protagonist and her nods to the comics, in this episode Kamala creates an energy construct in the shape of his signature giant fist. While he still can’t control it (he doesn’t even have enough strength to lift it), this was a big nod to his classic powers in the comics. We will see if he manages to master this ability in the next chapters, surely he will need them.
Ms. Marvel’s powers don’t come from the bracelet
While Kamala is training and practicing, Bruno it seems that she scans her friend and tells her that her power does not come from the bracelet, but from inside her. Furthermore, he surmises that the bracelet may have served to unlock the super-human (or inhuman) part of Kamala. This is a clear parallel to the original story of Ms Marvelsince in the comics Kamala was born with a latent inhuman gene that was activated when she was exposed to Terrigen Mists or Terrigen Mist.
After Bruno told her that her power doesn’t come from the bracelet, Kamala He asks her if she is Asgardian, since it seems that in that world the existence of the Inhumans is still unknown. For this reason, the first thought of Kamala is that maybe he has an Asgardian gene that may have been activated and he jokingly suggests that he could be related to Thor.
This idea may seem fanciful and amusing, but let’s not forget that it now exists New Asgard, where there are Asgardian refugees. Over time, they can relate to humans and welcome half-Asgardians (as well as half-gods).
Nod to the X-Men
Yes, we continue with the powers of Kamala Khan. In a moment, Bruno describes the skills Ms Marvel and says that light comes out of it and that it hardens. Given this, Kamala he jokes and proposes a code name for that power: Hard Light. This term was used in the comics of X Men in reference to his Danger Room, where this technology takes the form of immersive computer-controlled holographic opponents and environments. This helps train X Men. Furthermore, the mutant Dazzler She’s also known for manipulating hard light, though it’s not at all similar to the one she uses. Kamala.
Cheap Captain Marvel
Near the beginning of episode 2 of Ms Marvel we see how Zoéthe girl who Kamala saved at Avengers-Con, he’s talking at school about that moment and how it felt. Given this, Bruno Y Kamala they can’t believe that Zoé get all the fame when in reality Kamala should be famous. Nevertheless, Nakia (the friend who doesn’t know about Ms Marvel) can’t believe that Zoé be bragging about saving her”the Captain Marvel cheap”. This sentence (in English Budget Captain Marvel) was actually used by some critics when it was presented to Ms Marvel in the comics.
Kamran and Kamala
In this chapter we meet Kamranthe new student of the school and the love interest of Kamala, at least until now. In the comics, both Kamran What Kamala were affected by the Terrigen Mist. We already know her powers, but his have the ability that her body can turn into energy, which she can channel in the form of a shock and cause objects to explode.
In the comics they also have a romantic relationship and share a love of Bollywood movies. Nevertheless, Kamran is not as good as it seems, since in Ms Marvel #14we learn that he works for a major villain, named lineage (another inhuman), and hands over to Kamala.
as usual Marvel, maybe this is not so. At the end of the chapter, when Kamala is on the run from the Department of Damage Control, Kamran helps her and doesn’t seem surprised that she is Ms Marvel. But that’s not all, it introduces him to his mother, who ends up being the woman he Kamala he was seeing in his visions. Does this woman have something to do with the powers of Kamala or with lineage?
Similarity between Kamala and Kamran’s powers
In a moment Kamala he begins to lose control over his powers inside the school, as his nose glows and shows the same energy that comes out of his hands. Although it is possible that the body of Ms Marvel just show a hard light on his skin, that effect is visually similar to the inhuman powers of Kamran in the comics. Is this similarity accidental or is it a way to demonstrate a genetic connection between Kamala Y Kamran?
Wink to Kingo from Eternals
In one scene, Kamala Y Kamran they are talking about Bollywood movies and actors and this is where they mention kingothe Eternal who has been acting for generations pretending to be part of a lineage of actors.
Two references to Black Widow
One that makes you laugh and another mourn? The first is when Ms Marvel He finishes “saving” a child and makes a superhero pose practically the same as that of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, although to Kamala it doesn’t turn out so well. This is not strange, given that our protagonist is a big fan of avengers and surely you heard or read somewhere about the typical poses of supers.
The other is more at the beginning of the chapter, when Kamala is training with Bruno. while practicing, Kamala almost fell and Bruno holds her hand, recreating (it seems unintentionally) the sad scene between Black Widow Y hawk eye in endgame, just before Natasha die. What adds to this similarity is that Kamala he tells his friend to please let her go and that he has to let her go (although in this case, she falls and is only inches from the floor).
Stark Drones from Spider-Man: Far From Home
Near the end of the chapter, Kamala she is on the run from the Department of Damage Control and what caught our attention (and looked quite familiar) are the drones that are chasing her. These appear to be a variant of the ones we saw in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Apparently, after that movie the Department of Damage Control kept the drones Starks and could have reused them.
