The second chapter of Moon Knight has already been released and we have compiled all the references, obviously, do not read it if you have not seen it
Last week, the Disney Plus series Moon Knight premiered. This series introduces us to Steven Grant, a souvenir seller at an Egyptian history museum who suffers from insomnia. What he doesn’t know is that he also suffers from multiple personalities which causes him to become a bloody mercenary and a being with ancient power, the Moon Knight.
After knowing a little more about this character, he suddenly faints and appears in the middle of a meadow with his jaw disengaged. Throughout the entire chapter we can see that this dynamic is repeated becoming a murderer.
The chapter shows us that Steven’s life was not what it really seemed and the doubt that arises in the main character is transmitted to the viewer. We also meet Arthur Harrow, the main villain of the series played by Ethan Hawke. Harrow is a pain specialist and is supposedly Ammit’s prophet on Earth.
This week’s free comic
Marvel has once again hidden another free comic in the Moon Knight chapter. This dynamic brings the stories closer to us in order to learn more about the character and the plot. The comic that we can read this time, in English only, is the continuation of the previous one. number 33 of Werewolf By Night It will be this week’s comic and you can read how the story continues from last week without having to buy it.
You can find the QR in the scene where a locker number 43 appears, although it is a bit complicated to find and read, so here we leave the link so that you click directly.
The mysterious woman
If last week we told you that Layla’s name had some relevance in the series, this week it is confirmed. During the chapter we can see that Steven Grant runs into a woman who seems to know him, but he really doesn’t even know who he is. It turns out that we have definitely met Layla on screen and within the plot.
Layla is played by May Calamawy. This character makes a clear reference to Marc Spector’s partner, one of Steven Grant’s personalities. In the comics she goes by another name, Marlene Alraune. After she found the Grant mobile phone where we saw the calls we were able to see her. It is also very curious that Khonshu appears on the screen just as they meet. We still don’t really know what role she will have in the plot, since in the comics, this character has powers.
Better late than never
When Steven and Layla flee from the monsters summoned by Harrow we can see one of the key transformations of Moon Knight and that until now we had only been able to see it in the posters. This character is Mr. Knight and is the most “dressed up” version of the Egyptian god. The funny thing is the words Layla yells at Steven.
“Pull out the suit”. As usual, Steven has no idea what he’s talking about. Just like what happened to him in the first chapter and he woke up unconscious in a meadow. When he falls out the window we can see that he somehow summons it, falling and getting up dressed in a white three-piece and with the characteristic white mask with a moon on the forehead.
Breaking the fan theories
During the fight that Mr. Knight has in the second chapter we can see a small detail that has broken the theories made by the fans. I myself wrote a week ago that Harrow did not mention Thanos within the genocides he was talking about. Therefore, I contemplated that this story would not take place within the MCU.
This theory was not unreasonable since there was no connection with what was previously seen. Although with the passage of time, rumors arose that he would be inside the UCM, with the story of the Ennead. Now, thanks to a GRC poster we can see that it is inside the UCM. It can be seen for a very short time, but it is quite curious that Harrow does not mention Thanos as a genocide, it is also true that they defend the balance.
The first time we could see the GRC was in FAlcon and the Winter Soldier. It was the association in charge of “helping” people who had disappeared because of Thanos.
Who really is Marc Spector?
Clearly these series and movies have references to the comics that, after all, are the true stories. There is a moment in the chapter where we can see how Steven has been arrested by some policemen, who have a very relevant conversation. These cops are talking about who Marc Spector really was, a high-level mercenary.
This character maintains the history of the comics in which Marc Spector belongs to a group of elite mercenaries. Marc tried to betray his companions but unfortunately they ended up killing him, which made Khonshu take in his body.
This also means that Steven Grant is dead or has been at some point as he stores several Khonshu personalities all of which we have seen already.
These are the main references of the second chapter of Moon Knight on Disney Plus, but have you seen any more? Leave it to us in the comments.
